SOCIETY RECORD

Nova Scotia Barristers' Society magazine design

For more than a decade, I was employed as the in-house designer for the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the province's regulator for the legal profession. Among my many responsibilities, we regularly published a magazine that was direct mailed to the membership. The magazine averaged 44 pages depending on content. I did all of the design and layout, managed advertising, created cover concepts, sourced imagery and often photographed lawyers and other contributors. Between the editor / Communications Officer and me, it was a Herculean task for two people. But it was incredibly well read and very popular among lawyers and the judiciary. Every issue published on the NSBS website* was designed by me.

(*The NSBS has recently updated their website and no longer archives the Society Record. The link above uses the internet's web archive to access the PDFs.)
